This is My Story

I created this blog because of my own journey with food overcoming weight challenges & fatigue. During my journey, I not only changed my lifestyle, but my career path as well.

For years I struggled with maintaining my weight, and after I had my son I was unable to reach balance in my life. I was chronically fatigued all the time, the doctors had no explanation for me. This is when I decided there must be a better way and to take a closer look at my nutrition and become in tune with my body.

So the journey began. I did my first cleanse over a month period. Within one week I gained my energy back, my sleep improved & I quickly began to shed the excess weight.

My lifestyle change wasn’t overnight and it took a lot of trial and error. The real change began when I started to understand that food did more than impact my weight; it was also a trigger for many of my aliments, cravings, and emotional eating. With research, school & healthy foods that I love, I have been able to use food to help me manage and overcome my challenges. I am now able to listen to by body and nourish it so that I can thrive.

Cooking has always been a part of my life. What I love about cooking is the craft of creating something with my hands that brings smiles to my family and friends. Now, through my own journey of health and wellness I found that I can touch others not just with the flavors of food, but with nourishment.

Throughout my journey of health and career change, I attended a traditional culinary & commercial baking certification program. Not only did I graduate from this program, but I competed in a commercial baking national championship and placed first place. Though excited about my accomplishment, I was also conflicted on my next steps. Continuing my education through a traditional school did not align with my own health and wellness goals. I wanted to be able not just to create food, but to nourish with food. I volunteered at a local raw café learning as much as I can, went through my own detox, led plant based cooking classes at Whole Foods Market, studied plant based sports nutrition and finally I achieved my professional Plant-Based Certification from Rouxbe Cooking School.

I received my training as a Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s cutting-edge Health Coach Training Program.

During my training, I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. My teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.

My education has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health. Drawing on these skills and my knowledge of different dietary theories, I work with clients to help them make lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results.

Architect & Designer

Going through many changes over the years, I have found that it is important to design your own life. I originally went to school at the University of Miami achieving a Bachelors of Architects with a Minor in Art, and a concentration in blown glass.

I worked at a few Architecture firms over the course of four years. I found that throughout my time there I was always brought back to food. Baking for special occasions or taking classes at the closest culinary school, thirsty for knowledge. With the downturn of the market and the beginning of family with a baby on the way, I decided it was time to make a change.

It has been a journey, but always find myself coming back to build and create my life through the art of cooking.
